Credit Card Processing Options After deciding if you want to get your own SSL or use ours, you must decide how to process your orders online. SSL can be used to transmit credit card information as well as any other information you wish to transmit with an added level of security. To Process Credit Cards Online you have Option A and Option B. Option A Required Items: The Internet Merchant Bank Account: $145 setup fee from Humboldt Bank Step 1: $145 setup fee for your own Internet Merchant Account, with Humboldt Bank. This means if you own company XYZ, your customers' credit card statements will show a charge from XYZ. (This has to be done from an accredited Internet Merchant Account broker, we recommend Humboldt Bank exclusively because of their competitive rates and friendly customer support.) Approximately 25 cents per credit card transaction and 2.5% of net sales will be paid to the Internet Merchant Account broker, but this is variable depending upon how many transaction you have every month. 2.0% (approx) of total transactions must be paid to the credit card companies (i.e.: you must pay Visa, Discover, American Express, or Mastercard, as a fee for accepting their card) You must complete this step before Proceeding to Step 2, unless you choose Option B. Step 2: Click here to apply for an iBill account after you get an Internet Merchant Account. With iBill, after signing up you have 2 options. Option 1: You utilize their CMI (Commerce Management Interface). You will be assessed $1.00 flat rate per transaction from iBill. (Note, your credit card processor is separate from your Internet Merchant Account broker. The Processor -iBill- is in charge of refunds, and purchases - and interacts with your customers in real time as they fill out their billing information on your website) The processor will give you a control panel which you can use to handle your recurring billing, refunds, and customer database yourself. We recommend iBill's CMI program. If you have any questions, you can reach iBill at 800-764-4266. iBill provides free shopping cart services, and SSL. Option 2: If you choose not to utilize their CMI, then you will only be charged 15 cents per credit card transaction from iBill, but you will need your own coded management system to work the refunds, shopping cart, and customer database. This is only recommended for very advanced users.   Option B Your customers will not be billed by your company XYZ, but by iBill. If you apply for this option by clicking here and filling out the form, then your customer's credit card bill will read charges from iBill. It would therefore be your responsibility to notify them in advance how your charges will appear on their statements - so they do not dispute your legitimate charges and create a hassle. This will cost you only 15% in total of your dollar amount in transactions, this is the simplest, quickest to set up, and most straightforward way of accepting credit card payments online.
