Qmail Configuration This page is for Linux dedicated server customers.  If you have an e-mail account on our E-mail server, please go here to configure your e-mail account. If you have a Linux dedicated server, sendmail is installed by default.  If you wish to use Qmail, please contact us to install Qmail on your server.  If you have questions regarding Qmail, you can refer to the Qmail web site. Virtual Domain E-mail In general, you want to use Qmail because you want better control on virtual domain e-mail.  If we have installed Qmail for you, we have also installed a script to help you configure Qmail: shell> sxuseradd username password "comment" \        domainname This script will create a new username and assign the virtual domain e-mail control to this username.  It will also configure Qmail to accept e-mail for this domainname.  To assign virtual domain e-mail control to an existing user: shell> sxuseradd username - - domainname virtualdomains If you like to do things manually, there are 2 files that are of interest.  /var/lib/qmail/control/virtualdomains - this file tells Qmail which username has control over the e-mails going to the specific domainname.  The syntax of each line is: domainname:username-identifier Then, in the username's home directory, you will have a corresponding file: .qmail-identifier-alias For each domain, a "default" alias will tell Qmail to send all e-mails to the domain to the account listed in the .qmail-identifier-default file. rcpthosts This file will tell Qmail what host names it will receive e-mails for.  Qmail will reject e-mails for hostnames that is not listed in this file.  You should list each hostname, one per line.
