security on UNIX and Linux servers.
Using ssh
ls -al will allow you to see all the permission setting
of every file and sub-directory. chmod
code filename will change the permission setting of
the file or sub-directory. You should see -rwxr-xr-x for executable
files (e.g. CGI scripts) and drwxr-xr-x for directories, or change it
with chmod 755 filename.For other files (e.g. HTML, GIF, JPG, PHP, JSP, etc.),
you should see -rw-r--r, or change it with chmod 644

right mouse button and select Directory list. Select the file
you wish to set permission, then click on the right mouse button and
select chmod (UNIX). For directories and executable files (e.g.
